A party
in the garden

Join us at our home in Raschiacco for an afternoon of good food, good wine, and little bit of Italian summer.

let's celebrate

Since many of you are traveling from afar, we’ve included some details below to help plan your visit. While the main celebration will take place on Saturday, for those joining us for the full weekend, we’ll have a few meals together at our home and have put together some recommendations for fun activities, places to visit, and things to do in the surrounding area.

No gifts, no dress code.

We’re keeping things relaxed and casual — there’s no formal dress code. Wear something comfortable, or use it as an excuse to wear something a little fun if you’d like! (We’re still figuring out what we’ll be wearing too.)

If you stay longer

If you're staying for the whole weekend, there is plenty to explore around Friuli and the surrounding area. Here are a few of our favorite ways to spend a day.

Wine

Wine tasting

The hills around Udine are full of family-run wineries making some of Italy's best white wine — Friulano and Ribolla Gialla especially. Our favorites are Vini La Magnolia and Azienda Agricola Alturis, or simply explore the wineries scattered across the Colli Orientali.

Food

Olive oil tasting

See how Friulian olive oil is made and taste it fresh at a local grove — many producers pair it with a wine tasting for an easy afternoon. Try Azienda Agricola e Agriturismo Olio Ducale.

Food

Local specialties

Prosciutto di San Daniele, frico, and gubana for the brave. To drink: Ribolla Gialla and Friulano (white), Refosco (red).

Outdoors

Hiking in Slovenia

Right next door, with incredible hiking — the turquoise Soča valley, the dramatic peaks of Triglav National Park, and Kobarid for hikes and history.

Day trip

Cividale del Friuli

A must-see nearby town — wander the old streets, cross the famous Devil's Bridge, and take in Roman and Lombard history. Piazza Paolo Diacono, the main square, is great for a drink and people watching.

Day trip

Udine

A relaxed city for an afternoon — Piazza Libertà, Tiepolo frescoes and hilltop views from the castle. For food, try OGGI Gelato for the best ice cream, Osteria Alla Ghiacciaia for dinner, Osteria Al Cappello for wine, or Fratelli Panza for pizza.

Day trip

Trieste

About 1–1.5 hours away — walk the waterfront, see Piazza Unità d'Italia, and stop into a café from the old Austro-Hungarian era.

Outdoors

The coast

Marina Julia for a stony beach close by, or Grado for sand and a proper Italian seaside town.

Food

Restaurants

We'll add our favorites soon. For now: coffee and brioche at Bar Al Telefono in Faedis, or Sicilian food at Trattoria Ippolito.
